Ocala, Fl: Oakfield’s Diamond has been a big hit at HITS! Diamond (8yr.old bay mare *Kingstown Joe x *Templebready Ruby) has been showing in the Large Green Pony Division and has won several reserve championships over the past four weeks. The HITS shows, Horse Shows in the Sun, attract the very best horses and riders in the country. The pony divisions used to be the purview of the Welsh Ponies, but more and more Connemaras are showing in them. Also showing in Ocala are Oakfields Fuchsia (5yr.old grey mare *Hearnesbrook Dunoon x *Aille Freesia), Schooling Ponies, Oakfields Amayzing Sparrow (6yr. old grey mare *Hearnesbrook Dunoon x Oakfields May Sparrow), Schooling Ponies, and Balmullo’s Azalea aka Ooh La La (5 yr old bay mare Concord River Roaringwater Bay X Courtney’s April Frolic), Large Ponies. In recognition of the growing group of Connemaras in the hunter divisions, *Kilfenora Rosie O'Day (Windy Day X Kilfenora Rose [by Westside Fred]) and Lauren Hill made the cover of the March/April issue of Hunter & Sport Horse Magazine! Rosie is owned by Seaborne Farm in Creedmor, N.C.

Knoxville, Tn: A half bred showing as Little Heaven is also doing well in the Green Pony divisions of A and AA-rated Hunter shows in and around Atlanta. Windy Ridge's A.J. McCool is his registered name. He is by Stonybrook Finn McCool out of AJ-S-Brandi. He was bred by Kathryn Anderson, Danielsville, GA, and is being leased by Jacquelyn Bedwell and her daughter Hannah, who rides him. Jacquelyn says, “He lives with us at our house and he is really the biggest pet. We've had other ponies, but I have to say he is the sweetest pony we've ever had...he's our first Connemara.”
|
Vass, N.C. Aluinn Bowdoin (Hohnhorst Branni X Aladdin's Midnight Jazz) and owner Sandi McShea attended the Moore County Driving Club "Mini CDE." It was only their second driving function (ever)! Sandi said, “Bow was a model Connemara for all the good reasons -- he was safe, sane and a pleasure to take out. All that and a square halt, too! (Even if we did get time penalties in cones for going too slow!)” Bow will be be 5 in May.

Athens, Tn: Vanessa and Charlie Morgan at Foothills Farm are very pleased to announce their 2nd and 3rd and 4th *Gun Smoke foals of 2008. Foothills Hopefilly gave birth to a very sweet bay colt on February 28th and the following day, Foothills River Queen delivered a lovely buckskin filly. Both of the mares are by Concord River Roaringwater Bay. Their 4th and final foal was born on March 12. Corner Oak Celtic Star (Balius Turlough x Blue Hills Morning Star) gave birth on a frosty morning to her first, an adorable little bay colt. All Moms and babies are doing well. Vanessa would also like to congratulate Sue Holland of Taylorsville, NC, on her purchase of Elphin Chickadee, who is also in foal to Gun Smoke and due in early April.

|
Elbert, Co: Mary Prewitt of Wildwych Connemaras has also had an uncharacteristically early foal, Wildwych Eve's Golden Delicious. Glenormiston Roscrea (Oxenholm Gideon X Millfield Seaspray) took advantage of a lull between snow storms to deliver a HUGE palomino filly by Glenormiston Flurry Knox (Abbeyliex Finbar X Oxenholm Tiffany). Mary says that all went wonderfully and that Eve is a keeper at Wildwych.
