Clifden,
Ire. A large contingent of ACPS members spent the week
in Ireland for the annual super bowl of Connemara breeding, the
Clifden Show, held each year on the third Thursday of August in
the heart of Connemara. Hundreds of ponies and thousands of people
converge in the tiny town to see who will capture the grand prize…..as
with all good super bowls, there was a parade before the event…….Sabine
Droege from Germany drove a 4-in-hand carrying the queen of the
show. Karen Vicencio, an ACPS IC, drove the US bred Brannigan (X
Balius Derring Do) carrying Susan Rinehart, and the stallion Blue
Smokey (brother of the US’s Gunsmoke) pulled a carriage carrying
John Tennant.
The
Supreme Champion of the Clifden Show 2006 was Dolan Mick who is
owned by Paddy Connolly from Roundstone in Co Galway. The pony’s
Sire is Cloonisle Cashel and Dam is Lor Ruadh the 4th. The Champion
Ridden Pony was Cashelbay Prince (I Love You Melody X Coosheen Pheasant),
bred and owned by Mr Robert Fallon, Cashel Bay Connemara Pony Stud
Cashel, Connemara Co. Galway. Complete results can be found at the
Connemara Pony Breeder’s Society
website. |

the ACPS’ one man traveling dog and pony show when Michelle
Haas returned home from her travels to the 50th Celebration and THEN

Mardi (an Australian cattle dog). Michelle travels to Connemara shows
all over the country where she loves showing Tre Awain Dare to Dream,
