Cleveland, TN: Region IV of the ACPS held its annual show the weekend of June 5 at the Tri-State Exhibition Center in Cleveland, Tennessee. The show was held in conjunction with the Smokey Mountain Horse Show Series and offered a large variety of hunter, jumper, dressage, combined training, trail, and driving in addition to the Connemara and Mountain and Moorland in-hand Classes. People came from all over the region as well as the Midwest with ponies in tow. And with so many classes for ponies of all ages and all levels of training it was a very fun show. It was a rare pony who went home without some accolade.
Rivendell’s PondiRosa was the champion mare and the grand champion in-hand. She is by the French jumping stallion, Dexter Leam Pondi out of Big Bear’s Aura Lee. “Bunny” was bred and is owned by Lisa and Randy Rease and was shown by Claire Robinson. She was also, true to her heritage, champion Connemara jumper pony ridden by Claire Robinson. Reserve champion in-hand was Ruby King Sparrow, the first place stallion. Ruby King Sparrow is an imported 3-year-old by Glenncarrig Knight (X Janus) out of Sienna Dusky Sparrow. He is owned by Nancy Buchanan and Megan Harris and was shown by Megan Harris.
Champion halfbred in-hand was Seaborne’s Maritime. She was bred by Denise Hill and is owned by Vanessa Morgan. She is by Seaborne Schooner out of a TB mare. Piedmont Herman was the reserve champion halfbred in-hand. Herman is a Percheron cross by Balmullo’s Beacon (by Aladdin). Herman and rider Gardner Cook also won the Beginner Novice combined trained. Gardner is a big tall 17 year-old and he and Herman are a match made in heaven!
The High Point dressage award went to Kathee Cook riding her younghalfbred, Tulach Mohr Dew.
