Conestoga, PA: Pam Liddell has sent the following report. “I am excited to report that Kynynmont Gunsmoke’s Gideon has been accepted to participate in this year’s USDF Trainers’ Conference, which is held each winter in Wellington, Florida. This is such a great opportunity for Gideon to be seen by trainers who come in from all over the country to attend this conference. This year’s conference will be held on January 18-19, 2016, and features Johann Hinnemann, presenter.
“Gideon is a coming 8-year-old, ¾-Connemara gelding, by *Gunsmoke and out of Kynynmont Tara. He is owned by me, Pam Liddell, and trained and ridden by Jessica Jo (“JJ”) Tate. Gideon is the 2016 (and many previous years) USEF Halfbred Connemara Horse of the Year Champion and was the 2014 Connemara Halfbred of the Year. He won the 2016 USDF All-Breeds Award for Connemaras at both 4th Level and PSG. Gideon has become quite the ambassador of the Connemara breed at the upper levels of dressage. In the fall of 2015, his show career jumped to new levels. First, he won his Fourth Level, Test 3 class at the prestigious Dressage at Devon at the beginning of October. Two weeks later, he became the Fourth Level Open Champion at Region I Championships, and qualified for the National Dressage Finals at both 4th Level and Prix St. Georges. At US Dressage Finals, he was 3rd in the country at Fourth Level and put in quite a nice performance at PSG in an enormous class of dressage superstars. All of that was as a 7-year-old. As a result of his successful show season with rider/trainer JJ Tate, Gideon was prominently featured (with four photographs of him) in the January, 2016 issue of Sidelines magazine, published in Wellington, FL. In that article, JJ is quoted as saying: “Connemaras are so undervalued. They’re hardy, agile, sensitive, sane and built to withstand work. Gideon was just made to be a dressage star. Great strong body, good legs and a super brain---the perfect little package!”
“Gideon is not the only Kynynmont pony to make it to the big time. Kynynmont Cooper O’Grady (*Gunsmoke x Kynynmont Tara) appeared in an article in the Chronicle of the Horse in September, 2015, and was also featured in a national press release from the US Dressage Pony Cup in Lexington, KY. Cooper was 3rd Level Open Champion of the 2-day National Dressage Pony Cup show, with two scores in the 70’s. He was also the High Score Connemara of the show. Kynynmont Ballytobin (“Toby”) was Second Level Open Champion and Kynynmont Blue Sapphire was FEI Level Open Reserve Champion at the Pony Cup show.
“If any Connemara people attend the Trainers Conference, please look me up there. I would love to visit with you!"
