It was a day filled with emotions as 31 pairs crossed the finish flags at the 2019 Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event. Five-Star Horses of a Different Breed

US Equestrian’s 11 recognized breeds are all stellar ambassadors for the versatility, athleticism, and power of the horse. Each has its own special characteristics, and many of these breeds excel in a multitude of disciplines.

While breeds like the Thoroughbred, Irish Sport Horse, and warmbloods are numerous in the field of competitors at the Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event presented by Mars Equestrian, keep your eyes on the lookout for a few horses boasting some different bloodlines in the start box on Saturday.

Congratulations to Cathy Blackmon and her longtime companion Hideaway's Special Delivery who came in second at Ocala Horse Trials II last weekend finishing on their dressage score of 24.9 which is Special as the young man is 24 this year! Amazing!!

Land Rover 3 Day Event

The ACPS has been invited back to the Land Rover 3 Day Event on April 25-28, 2019. To quote the organizer "We have changed the demos for this year but the Connemaras fit what we are wanting to showcase in the Walnut Arena." In preparation for this we would like to start getting together the group to attend. If you are interested in attending please submit a description of the experiences that would make you and your pony a good ambassador for our breed.

Behind The Stall Door With: Kynynmont Gunsmoke’s Gideon

His full name is Kynynmont Gunsmoke’s Gideon, but Jessica Jo Tate calls the 10-year-old Connemara gelding “Gideon,”  “Giddy,” “Super Pony” or, on occasions he’s earned it, “Cheeky Pony.”

Gideon (Gun Smoke—Kynynmont Tara, Greystone McErill) has been in Tate’s string for four years. His owner and breeder Pam Lidell originally sent him to Tate with a handful of other horses. Tate, being 5’10”, didn’t expect to ride the 15.2 ½-hand Gideon, but once she did she fell in love, and the two have been a powerful duo ever since...

2018 Letter to Juniors

To all ACPS Junior Members,

ACPS is again teaming up with US Equestrian to offer a scholarship program to support the continuing education of Junior Members and their Connemara partners. It is a way for you to add a clinic, a lesson with a professional, or other educational experience that you feel will further your skills and aspirations.

So think about a persuasive paragraph telling us about your special Connemara partner and submit it with the information listed on the application. Share one or two photographs if you would like. Submit to by September 1 with Junior Scholarship in the subject line.

Kentucky Three Day


The American Connemara Pony Society has accepted an invitation to show off our ponies during the Breed Demonstrations taking place in conjunction with this year’s Land Rover Kentucky Three Day Event, April  26-29 in Lexington, Kentucky. 2018 marks the 40th Anniversary of this premier Event and 20 years since being elevated to the only 4* in the country. Attendance numbers in 2017 were 80,000.
