Big scope in a small package! “Dory” is a 13.1 h 3/4 Connemara (1/4 grade Welsh) mare out of W.H. Topgun. 7 years young. She was born into my family, started slowly at 3 1/2, and has been in consistent jump and dressage lessons since age 4. She qualified for the 2025 AEC’s in her first year of eventing after completing three recognized events (1 Starter and 2 BNov). We didn’t attend because I had hip surgery. 1st level dressage; lateral movements are her strength! She is coming off a short-term lease with a 10 year old and is ready to get ribbons in a more permanent situation. Dory is not for bobbly beginner riders if they want to jump. She is enthusiastic and forward in show jumping. Perfect for a small adult or child with minimum 2-3 years of riding experience who wants to consistently be in the ribbons, whether that is eventing, jumpers, or straight dressage. Everywhere this girl goes she gets attention because she is beautiful, cute, curious, bold, and very athletic! She could surely do novice, but that is likely the limit for her because of her size. No buck, bolt, or rear. One “quirk” (and its the only one!): Gets fuming mad in large groups of horses; pins her ears and tries to turn her rear to kick. NOT suitable for foxhunting even though she has been several times and we all survived. Did go to several large schooling shows with her child leasee and they were fine (and got blue ribbons!).
