Warrenton, VA: Region III of the ACPS held its annual Christmas Party on December 6 at Sycamore Ridge Farm, home of Les and Marilyn Cheek. After a belt-busting pot-luck lunch, a short meeting was held. The date for the 2016 show was set as August 27 and 28 at the Virginia Horse Park in Lexington.
The weather smiled on the Region III Connemara Show once again at the Virginia Horse Center in Lexington, VA. Fifty-eight ponies and their entourages arrived ready for the two-day competition on August 22-23. Mike and Jennifer Keane were the long-distance travelers, coming from Florida with their four imported Irish youngsters, who proceeded to sweep the futurity and with *Seafield Ruby, win the two-year-old class and Best Purebred of the Day. Megan Harris and Nancy Buchanan from Georgia brought their imported Irish two-year-old colts and Megan’s old standby, Sparrow’s Owen, who once again captured the Best Halfbred of the Day, as he did two years ago.
Lexington, VA: On the weekend of August 22, Region III of the ACPS held its 29th annual show. For most of those 29 years the show was held at Glenwood Park in Middleburg, Va, but for the past three years it has been at the Virginia Horse Center in Lexington, a venue that has received rave reviews. The weather, as in the past two years, was beautiful. There were the usual in hand and performance classes for Connemaras and Mountain and Moorland Ponies, as well as a trail class that took place at the highest point of the horse center, offering beautiful views in addition to a variety of natural and unnatural obstacles to navigate. There was also a costume class, games classes, and for the third year in a row, the 6-membered Balmullo Farm Quadrille doing their dressage test.
