The ACPS Broodmare Award is given to an outstanding broodmare who has made a positive influence on the breed through her offspring. Our 2023 winner, Skyview’s Lady Rigel, was a 1983 grey mare, 14.2 hands. She was by Gilnocky Drumcliffe and x RBR Georgia Lady (Montully Man). She was bred by Sally Green and owned by David and Sandra Smith -Reynolds at Skyview Farms in Canby Oregon. She was a great mother and a sweetheart. The Irish inspectors liked her good bone and topline and plenty of Connemara type. Lady Rigel is an example of the impact of the second and third generations of offspring. She had only 6 offspring in the first generation but her two stallion sons (Skyview’s Orion and Skyview’s Triton) have been so prolific that her offspring number over 200. These offspring excel at whatever they are asked to do and take good very good care of their riders. She contributed many outstanding ponies to the ACPS for us to enjoy!
