Tre Awain Sileach (Tre Awain De Valera x Oak Hills Miss Independence) is a  1984  mare bred by Three Creek Farm  and loved and promoted by Barbara Byrd.   Barbara bought Sileach from May Medley of Tullymor Farm, after she had has some foals there.

A quick look at the three generations of Tre Awain Sileach’s influence pulls an amazing number of breeders/farms together. One of Sileach’s daughters, Tullymor Lizzie MacLynch was owned by Mary Brandise Deardon and that mare produced Morning Glory’s Ilyushin (sired by Fiddler’s Glory Boy). Ilyushin sired many purebreds and halfbreds for Mary, and then  he was sold to Caroline Nesbitt of New Hampshire, and became part  of the Wintervale breeding program.

Through Ilyushin’s lease to the Canadian breeder Janet Rowe, he became part of the MLC breeding program there and then part of Kathy Lucas’ Gately Farm program  in California through MLC the Duke of Sussex.

At Barbara Byrd’s Thurman Farm, Sileach was bred to Aladdin’s Admiral Bird to produce Thurman Raven who had many foals who  were champions in hand at Upperville and  the Region 3 show, and then to *TBS Declan Pondi for more recent foals.

And there  are breeding offspring in Ohio and West Virginia and Massachusetts, all proving that one good mare can impact countless families around the country

Congratulations to Barbara Byrd and to Laura Carpenter Balding
