Region 8 Eventers Attend Fall Clinic with Jimmy Wofford

In preparation for the 2017 competitive season, three ACPS Region 8 eventers – and their Connemara mounts – attended a fall clinic with three-time Olympic medalist and four-time national champion Jimmy Wofford.

Each rider gained priceless individual instruction and encouragement from this highly respected clinician and coach at the mid-September Mile High Horse Ranch event in Parker, Colorado.


Region III Christmas Party

Warrenton, VA: Region III of the ACPS held its annual Christmas Party on December 6 at Sycamore Ridge Farm, home of Les and Marilyn Cheek. After a belt-busting pot-luck lunch, a short meeting was held. The date for the 2016 show was set as August 27 and 28 at the Virginia Horse Park in Lexington.


USDF Region 7 Dressage Results

Charlotte Greatwood, won Reserve Champion in the USDF Region 7 Championships in JR/YR Training Level Division on her halfbred Connemara/Trakhener mare Black Dog’s Top of the Morning(Mia) on 9/19/15; and also got 5th place in the same Division on her halfbred Connie/Welsh mare 13h pony Gateway Night Light(Tinkerbelle). Their standings in California Dressage Society Horse of the Year were 4th on Mia and 7th on Tinkerbelle in the JR/YR Training Division.


2015 Region III Connemara Show Results

The weather smiled on the Region III Connemara Show once again at the Virginia Horse Center in Lexington, VA. Fifty-eight ponies and their entourages arrived ready for the two-day competition on August 22-23. Mike and Jennifer Keane were the long-distance travelers, coming from Florida with their four imported Irish youngsters, who proceeded to sweep the futurity and with *Seafield Ruby, win the two-year-old class and Best Purebred of the Day. Megan Harris and Nancy Buchanan from Georgia brought their imported Irish two-year-old colts and Megan’s old standby, Sparrow’s Owen, who once again captured the Best Halfbred of the Day, as he did two years ago.


Region III Holds 29th Annual Show

Lexington, VA:  On the weekend of August 22, Region III of the ACPS held its 29th annual show.  For most of those 29 years the show was held at Glenwood Park  in Middleburg, Va,  but for the past three years it has been at the Virginia Horse Center in Lexington, a venue that has received rave reviews. The weather, as in the past two years, was beautiful.  There were the usual in hand and performance classes for Connemaras and Mountain and Moorland Ponies, as well as a trail class that took place at the highest point of the horse center, offering beautiful views in addition to a variety of natural and unnatural obstacles to navigate.  There was also a costume class, games classes, and for the third year in a row, the 6-membered Balmullo Farm Quadrille doing their dressage test.


49th Annual Region I show Held

Woodstock, VT:  Also on the weekend of July 18, Region 1 of the ACPS held their annual show, their 49th! Deborah Howell of Middleburg VA judged the show in rain and shine. The in hand division was sizeable with two big mare classes. In hand Champion was Wintervale Mayblossom (Morning Glory’s Ilyushin X Wintervale Calliope [by Chiltern Colm]), owned and shown by Caroline Nesbitt. Young Stock Champion was Dry Brooks Winifred (Bailey’s Irish Dream X Lasrachai’s Blue Oaks Dunlaith [by Lasrachi]), owned and shown by Emily Shields.


Annual Region I Connemara Tea

March 22nd dawned sunny and cold with a brisk northwest wind of 15 mph that kept everybody bundled in their winter garb.  The below average temperatures in central Connecticut, however, did not keep the sturdy, ACPS Region I New Englanders from venturing to their annual Connemara Tea hosted by Carolyn McEvitt at her Hope Valley Farm in Amston.  There were 26 attendees from Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont that participated in this year’s Connemara Tea.
