The purebred Connemara of the Year Award goes to a pony who has had an outstanding year, made a splash of some kind, and promoted the Connemara pony. The 2026 winner is *TBS Declan Pondi, a 2012 grey stallion by Dexter Liam Pondi x Handy Sparrow, bred in Ireland by Carol Henley. He has been owned and loved by Megan Harris Lichty of Luthersville Georgia and has been an outstanding competitor in dressage, eventing, and especially fox hunting. This year he competed in 3 horse trials, finishing in 1st or 3rd, on his dressage score. He won both of his USDF first level tests, and he completed his 10th year of hunting with his eighth recognized pack. Congratulations to Megan Lichty and Declan!
