Kim Gates is a lifelong horsewoman. She grew up in Pony Club and showed hunters as a child. She was a successful equitation rider. Kim has been involved with breeding and riding ponies all her life. First with the Welsh and Welsh crosses bred for the hunter ring and then as an adult with the Connemaras.
Kim has been breeding and riding Connemaras since 1997 under her Poppyfield prefix. She has been the Region IV Chair and is currently the Region IV Governor. She has been the show organizer many times over the years and putting on those shows with her Connemara friends are some of her favorite memories.
Kim is a saddle fitter and trained saddler. She is very active in saddle fit education for riders. Her home is a farm in Washington, Georgia shared with four purebred Connemaras, a Quarter Horse, a Mustang and countless other critters. The special pony in Kim’s life is a little black Connemara mare named Windy. They do low level everything and have a great time together!
