Because of its size, we really haven’t have any in-person gatherings. Land wise Region VIII is larger then Regions 1, 2 & 3 combined, running from the Mexican to Canadian boarders.
Our largest contingent of members is in Colorado, though we have members in every state. Our members are active in a variety of activities such as : eventing, dressage, endurance riding, show jumping, therapeutic riding, Working Equitation, trail riding and simply enjoying their ponies. Many of the members have participated in the various achievement awards offered by ACPS and are excited about the two new awards being offered, Fun With Pony and Working Equitation.
For the past 3 years, Region VIII ponies have been honored to be awarded Pony of the Year titles. Due to Covid none were awarded in 2020. RR Cool Play aka Becks, was co-selected as the 2019 ACPS Half-Bred Pony of the Year. Becks is owned by junior rider, Ryder Richardson of Colorado. The 2018 Halfbred winner was VSH Devine Alexandra, a grey, aged, mare, (Tullymor’s Ned Devine x Missy), owned by Susan Dudasik of Salmon, Idaho. And, in 2017 the Purebred award went to Chris Knox’s driving ponies, Knox Farm Hobby, a 2001 mare, (RosNaRi Kilcullen x Avenns Silke Sonata), Knox Farm Alamode, a 2003 mare, (RosNaRi Kilcullen x Avenns Silke Sonata), Knox Farm Felicity a 2003 mare (RosNaRi Kilcullen x Ballyhamage Generals Miss) and Knox Farm Tassel, a 2005 mare (RosNaRi Kilcullen x Ballyhamage Generals Miss).
To help folks stay informed with the Region’s happenings, a quarterly newsletter is e-mailed to members and posted on this page. Members are encouraged to send photos and articles on their ponies and activities.
There is also a public Facebook page which can be found at: American Connemara Pony Society – Region 8 that everyone can post to. You can reach that page by following the facebook page link at the top of this page.
